5% Panthenol, the active ingredient of Torriden Lip Essence, interacts with 3% Squalane to promote lip barrier function. Tests demonstrated that it could increase the water content of stratum Corneometer from 12.3% to 28.7% within 30 minutes (Corneometer CM825 measured). According to a 2023 International Journal of Cosmetic Science paper, 0.5% ceramide NP creams, such as Torriden Lip Essence, reduced transdermal water loss (TEWL) by 41.2% (compared with 18.5% in the control), and remained effective for up to 8.2 hours of moisturization (compared with an average of 4.5 hours with traditional lip lipsticks). Korea Consumer Agency tests revealed that the pH of the product reached a plateau at 5.8 (the natural pH of the lip is 5.5-6.5), and incidence of cheilitis reduced from 9.3% to 2.1% compared to alkaline form (pH > 7).
Microemulsification technology decides permeation efficiency. torriden lip essence uses liposomes with particle sizes under 50nm to load the active ingredient. Confocal Raman spectroscopy established that epiderm depth penetration was 180μm (the control cream only 80μm), and the active ingredient squalane concentration within the corneum was maintained at up to 1.9μg/cm² (the normal formula 0.7μg/cm²). At low temperature at -10°C (simulating winter dryness), product viscosity increased from 3500 mPa·s at 25°C to 5200 mPa·s, but the elongation rate of 0.3mm per second was still maintained, which improved the smoothness of application by 62% compared to the wax-based lip balm (viscosity > 8000 mPa·s).
Cost-benefit analysis provides a reasonable premium. Its cost per ml of raw material is approximately 0.45 (with patented Lipidure−M included), compared with the mean market price of 0.28/ml of standard lip balm, its unit price-based moisturizing effectiveness (moisturizing cost per hour) is 0.055. It compares favorably with Mentholiden (0.072) and Vaseline ($0.098). Coupang has 43 percent repeat purchase rate (21 percent industry average) and +58 NPS net recommendation score, in which only 7 percent of its negative reviewers employed “sticky” (21 percent average of rival products).
Clinical proof of relief of lip lines effect is high. Laser topological imaging showed that after 28 days of use, vertical lip striation density decreased from 12.5 to 8.3 (33.6% reduction) and mean striation depth decreased from 85μm to 52μm (38.8% increase). Compared to injectional hyaluronic acid fillings (300 per injection for 4-6 months), per millimeter lip improvement with TorridenLipEssence costs 0.03, which is only 1/2400 in comparison with the Medical-beauty regimen.
Technological progress can be viewed from the aspect of stability control. With microencapsulation of tocopherol acetate with the content of 0.2%, the rate of the active ingredient of the product degradation decreased from 6.7%/month in comparable formulations to 0.9% in the conditions of accelerated storage at 40°C/75% humidity (HPLC analysis), while the shelf-life increased up to 18 months from opening (industry standard 12 months). The 2024 AmorePacific Group patent shows that when 0.01% of the antioxidant edbenone is added, the free radical clearance rate of the product exposed to UVB irradiation increases from 78% to 94%, and photoaging-caused lip dullness risk reduces by 52%.
